About Imaní Scott
Industry newcomer Imaní Scott is bringing happiness back to music with her bold and soulful vocals that mesh a little bit of R&B, Pop, Hip-Hop and Funk for a fresh take on real music in an artificial society. The Houston-bred singer, songwriter and recent graduate from Sam Houston State University, recently released her hot new single “Get Litty,” ahead of the highly anticipated release of her debut LP titled “The Introduction,” produced entirely by heavy hitter Isaac “Chill” Yowman. With her funkadelic dialect, electrifying colorful hairstyles, Imaní Scott’s triumphant vocals and sensational stage presence has catapulted her to the top as Houston’s next “Shining Star.”
Raised in H-Town with roots in the Acres Homes community, the Southern artist credits her musical influences and inspirations to past and present legends including the likes of Etta James, Beyoncé, Tina Turner, Chaka Khan, Maze, Prince, George Clinton, Aaliyah, Missy Elliot, Andre 3000, Lauryn Hill, Anita Baker, Janelle Monaé and Tamar Braxton. Imaní has spent the last few years behind the scenes learning the ropes of the music industry while developing her amazing sound and incredible work ethic. She quickly learned the ins and outs of the music business, eventually growing from recording songs in a closet to laying down tracks in a multi-million dollar recording studio with industry pros.
The recent college grad is determined more than ever to bring happiness back to music: “These days we want to be so numb to everything, but I want to put that emotion back in the music, that Earth, Wind & Fire, so we can live in the moment,” says the Houston beauty. “I’m determined to bring live instrumentation back to the music, to fulfill what we once had and get away from the artificial sound. I want to bring intelligence back to people listening and get us to level back up.”
Her new single “All Over Again” has taken the industry by storm and is just a taste of what’s to come on her upcoming debut LP “The Introduction,” – an effortless multi-genre sonic journey blending R&B, Pop, Hip-Hop, Funk, Reggaeton, and Country, that appeals to the masses, young and old, and will make you want to get up and dance. Imaní is bringing the funk with a refreshing new sound that incites excitement and energy every time you press play.
