Philanthropist Jean Shafiroff was honored along with other prominent New Yorkers at the National Action Network’s 23rd Annual Women of Excellence/ Man of Vision Luncheon at the Astoria World Manor in Astoria, Queens. Ms. Shafiroff was honored for her outstanding service & dedicated commitment in philanthropy. Other honorees included the Honorable Machelle Sweeting, Dr. Cynthia Ashley and Korey Wise. Audrey Smaltz served as emcee. The event attracted close to 200 notable New Yorkers.
Those in attendance included Jean Shafiroff, US Rep. Carole Maloney, Kathy Jordan Sharpton, Dominique Sharpton Bright, Audrey Smaltz, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, Attorney Michael Harvey, singer Angela Winbush, Flo Anthony, Helen Shelton, Matt Rich, Tony Bowles and actor Harold House Moore.
Carolyn Maloney gave salutations mentioning the wonderful philanthropic work of Jean Shafiroff. She also spoke about the great work of the National Action Network and the important exoneration of Korey Wise who was accused of a murder that 15 years later DNA testing proved wrong. Flo Anthony introduced Jean Shafiroff and spoke about her excellent work in philanthropy all across the globe. Ms. Shafiroff who wore a couture suit by fashion designer B. Michael, spoke about the good work of the National Action Network and how she was grateful to be honored by the group, National Action Network.
