Philanthropists Martin & Jean Shafiroff Honored at Southampton Hospital’s 61st Annual Summer Party
Philanthropist Jean Shafiroff and her husband Martin Shafiroff were honored at the Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s 61st Annual Summer Party under air-conditioned tents in the fields at Wickapogue Road and Old Town Road, Southampton. The Shafiroffs are longtime supporters of Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, with Jean being on the Southampton Hospital Association Board. Jean chaired the Southampton Hospital Summer Party’s in 2010, 2011 and 2013 when a total of $5.4million was raised for the Hospital.The event was an evening of cocktails, dinner and dancing to benefit the Jenny and John Paulson Emergency Department. Larry Scott of Lawrence Scott Events provided the ambiance and gourmet offerings, with music by Groove Society. Larry Scott’s floral décor was inspired by Jean Shafiroff’s elegant style and glamorous gowns. This year’s party was emceed by lead news anchor at WNBC Chuck Scarborough.

The renowned Summer Party is one of the largest fundraising events in the Hamptons, and this year raised over $1.5 million through the generous support of its honorees, donors and guests. Over 700 benefactors attended in support of the Jenny & John Paulson Emergency Department which is the first Level III Trauma Center on the East End and services the community 24/7, year-round. In 2018, the ED had over 21,900 visitors, with almost half those visits occurring during Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Jean Shafiroff, philanthropist, humanitarian, activist and author of the book “Successful Philanthropy: How to Make a Life By What You Give”, is a volunteer leader of several charitable causes.
