Whilst the original building was cutting edge, for example having electrical outlets in the bathrooms, the benchmark today was higher still. Klein and his team sought to renovate and modernize whilst keeping the classical features of the hotel intact. The object of the restoration, which many guests have attested to is the sense of timelessness that has been created. The look and feel of Sunset Tower is one which you could imagine guests from the past feeling at ease with not to mention future generations of visitors.
The dining arrangements focus on two distinct options, the Tower Bar and the Terrace. The Tower Bar is very grown-up with walnut paneling, a fireplace and classic bar – located in what was formerly the room of a gangster at the Tower, Bugsy Siegel. One of the other attraction of the Tower Bar is Maitre’D Dimitri Dimitrov, reputedly the inspiration for the central character of Wes Anderson’s recent hit movie The Grand Budapest Hotel.
